Welcome to The Number Place ("we," "our," or "us"). These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of our website and services for buying and selling personalised number plates. By accessing or using our platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

The Number Place operates as a connection service, facilitating introductions between buyers and sellers of personalised number plates. We do not act as a party to the sale transaction itself.

2. Definitions

  • "Platform" refers to the The Number Place website and all associated services
  • "Buyer" means any person or entity making an offer to purchase a number plate
  • "Seller" means any person or entity listing a number plate for sale
  • "Finder Fee" means the £40 fee charged to buyers upon acceptance of an offer
  • "Service" means our platform for connecting buyers and sellers

3. Use of Our Service

3.1 Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and have the legal capacity to enter into contracts. By using our service, you represent and warrant that you meet these requirements.

3.2 Account Registration

While account registration is not required to browse our platform, certain features may require you to provide contact information. You are responsible for maintaining the accuracy of any information you provide.

3.3 Prohibited Activities

You agree not to:

  • Use our platform for any illegal or unauthorised purpose
  • Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information
  • Interfere with or disrupt the operation of our platform
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of our system
  • Use automated systems to scrape or collect data from our platform
  • Impersonate any person or entity

4. Listing Number Plates

4.1 Seller Responsibilities

When listing a number plate, sellers must:

  • Provide accurate information about the plate, including the correct registration number
  • Ensure they have legal ownership or authority to sell the plate
  • Verify that the plate is transferable through the DVLA
  • Respond to offers in a timely manner
  • Complete transactions in good faith once an offer is accepted

4.2 Listing Approval

All plate listings are subject to review and approval by The Number Place. We reserve the right to reject, modify, or remove any listing at our discretion, particularly if it violates these Terms or applicable laws.

5. Making Offers

5.1 Offer Submission

Buyers may submit offers for listed number plates. All offers are binding and indicate a genuine intention to purchase at the offered price, subject to seller acceptance.

5.2 Offer Acceptance

When a seller accepts an offer, the buyer becomes obligated to pay the £40 finder fee. Upon payment, seller contact details will be released to the buyer.

5.3 Finder Fee

The finder fee of £40 is non-refundable once seller contact details have been released, except in cases where we are unable to provide the promised information. The finder fee covers our service of connecting buyers and sellers and does not include the cost of the plate itself or DVLA transfer fees.

6. Payment and Transactions

6.1 Finder Fee Payment

Finder fees must be paid within 7 days of invoice issuance. Payment can be made via bank transfer, credit/debit card, or PayPal as specified in the invoice.

6.2 Plate Payment

Payment for the number plate itself is arranged directly between the buyer and seller. The Number Place is not involved in the payment for the plate or responsible for any disputes arising from the plate transaction.

6.3 DVLA Transfer

All DVLA transfer fees and procedures are the responsibility of the buyer and seller. The Number Place does not handle DVLA transfers or charge for transfer services. Buyers and sellers must coordinate directly with the DVLA to complete the transfer.

7. Disclaimers and Limitations

7.1 Service Disclaimer

The Number Place provides a connection service only. We do not:

  • Guarantee the accuracy of plate listings
  • Verify seller ownership or authority to sell
  • Handle payment for plates
  • Process DVLA transfers
  • Act as an intermediary in disputes between buyers and sellers

7.2 Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, The Number Place shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses resulting from your use of our service.

7.3 Maximum Liability

Our total liability to you for any claims arising from or related to our service shall not exceed the amount of the finder fee paid by you, or £40, whichever is greater.

8. Dispute Resolution

Any disputes between buyers and sellers regarding the plate transaction itself should be resolved directly between the parties. The Number Place is not responsible for resolving disputes related to:

  • Plate condition or description accuracy
  • Payment for the plate
  • DVLA transfer issues
  • Seller non-performance or withdrawal

9. Intellectual Property

All content on the The Number Place platform, including text, graphics, logos, and software, is the property of The Number Place or its licensors and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from our content without express written permission.

10. Privacy

Your use of our service is also governed by our Privacy Policy. Please review our Privacy Policy to understand how we collect, use, and protect your information.

11. Modifications to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be notified by posting the updated Terms on our website with a new "Last updated" date. Your continued use of our service after such modifications constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

12. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to our service at any time, with or without cause or notice, for any reason including, but not limited to, breach of these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the service will immediately cease.
